OPERATIONAL AREAS PDF Print E-mail

Chazanga Compound falls under the Chipata Catchments area, a densely populated peri-urban settlement with an estimated population of 103,000 people north of Lusaka Main City. The area has two Government Health Facilities in Chipata Reference Clinic and Chazanga Clinic.Chazanga which forms part of the broader community known as Chipata Catchments is an unplanned settlement, densely populated with poor sanitation facilities including lack of access to clean and safe water. In most cases, people depend on few communal water sources provided by Care international while the majority depends on shallow wells rendering them vulnerable to water borne diseases.Though Chazanga has a number of schools, the area lacks other social amenities such as recreational facilities thereby giving rise to the number of illegal beer halls. Access to health services is also minimal as the clinic is not adequate to cater for the ever increasing population.
